West Side - Part One (8.5x11", 48 pages)

$10.00

Part One (first 48 pages) of a 200 page graphic Novel.

West Side is a 200-page graphic novel set in 1980 New York City. A rich and layered story of two friends and brothers-in-law (Jonny and Danny) who are small time criminals, part of the Irish-American Westies gang, they are trying to make a living and protect their shared family in the rough and tumble of 1980s New York City.

When they accidentally kill an Upper West Side Jewish businessman in the Garment District, their communities collide amidst a now-vanished New York City—a feral grid lined with oversized cars, paved in trash, and mottled public phone booths. Jonny is a closeted gay man pursuing power out of desperation, and Danny is a former World War Two orphan who uses brute force to protect the family he’s created (he is married to Jonny’s sister). These differences trigger a fault line in their relationship, which mirrors the city’s factions as they fiercely compete to stay alive in a world enveloped by a tidal wave of change.
