Last summer I found this old wooden sign in the 8th arr. in Paris. I love that it’s been left alone for all these years.

This sign is next to the photo supply sign (below). You can see both signs in context here; they are on a newly exposed wall which is hidden under scaffolding. The explanation is in the previous post and a short rant is below in the Go Figure post from 10/22.

Recently the business on the ground floor of our building changed. So the plastic deli signs were torn off and some history that was hidden behind plastic saw light again.  Click on the image, you can even see some of the surviving gold leaf. My neighbor the amazing photographer Matt Petosa took this.

I live in New York. It’s not so much a concrete jungle, it’s more like a human zoo. Great city for walking; weirdness is everywhere, often on the walls, or ceiling. I found this sign on a passage between the 7th and 8th Ave. subways in Manhhattan. (We also have stalagtites in the subway, I kid you not . . . photos to come.)
