Tonight I was looking for a writer I used to work with and found a site that has PDFs of old magazines. I found a lot of my illustration work from the early 90s. Including this. The article was about the threat of religious extremism. What’s a little creepy is that this was the early 90s, not post-911. And I wasn’t living in NYC at the time. I was livingin London. Guess I was thinking about NYC.

Osama death cartoons

Thursday, May 12th, 2011

Most cartoonists are focusing on the “Gotcha!” idea, rather than on what his death may mean. Here are a couple of ideas. I like the first one the best. I like the drawing in the second one, but the idea is too simplistic.

The idea that Osama’s death will bring peace is way too simple, but the image is fun. After I jotted it down I thought of Fearless Fosdick.
